Jesse Tree (Advent Season)
Each Advent Season, our children enter the sanctuary to decorate the Jesse Tree with ornaments bearing scenes from the Bible and the names of children in need. These children and their special Christmas requests and the needs of their families have been identified by the local YMCA. Adults in the parish then get busy to give these kids a very Merry Christmas. Those who are unable to spend time shopping purchase gift cards for local supermarkets and other stores to support our local chapter of Family Promise, a national organization that works to transform the lives of homeless families (www.familypromise.org). Each year, St. John's people deliver hundreds of wrapped gifts and more than $800 in gift cards.
